This entry is part 24 of 28 in the series Devotionals

Everybody desires to see happy days ahead. The truth of the matter, though, is that everybody will also have some tough days ahead. A child of God can still be happy, nevertheless, even in the midst of difficulties.

The Apostle Paul said that those of us whose hope is in the Lord, can go through difficulties and still rejoice. 2 Corinthians 6:10 says, “Sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, and yet possessing everything.” Because of our great salvation in Jesus Christ, children of God can experience both great joy and grief during a time of testing. A mother, giving birth to her child, experiences great pain during the birthing process, but she can still have joy thinking of the baby that she is going to hold in her arms.

Psalm 144:15 says, “…”Happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” Without a doubt, we are happy people when we serve God.

Serving God does pay off! The people in the days of Malachi felt that serving God was hopeless and that it was not to their benefit to do so. In Malachi 3:14 they said, “…It is useless to serve God. What have we gained by keeping His requirements…?”

God wants us to serve Him, obey His Word and He wants our best sacrifice. NOTHING LESS, WILL DO. Serving God does pay off. But we must do it from a right principle, in a right manner, and for a right finish. In the end, every individual will either be righteous or wicked. They are either going to heaven or hell. Every individual is either going to serve God or not. Happy days are yet ahead, but only for those who serve the Lord and worship Him in Spirit and Truth.
