If Christ came back today, would you be ready to go home with Him? If Christ came back at that moment, would a place where you’re about to go this week or a thing you’re about to do, cause you to be ashamed or embarrassed in any way? If so, then you need to CHANGE what you’re doing. If you are not living in a way that is pleasing to Him right now, then His return will come as a great shock and surprise to you.

2 Peter 3:10-14 says, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, waiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and the heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! But according to His promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells. Therefore, beloved, since you are waiting for these, be diligent to be found by Him without spot or blemish, and at peace.”

Mark 13:31-33 says, “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. But of that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone. Take heed, keep on the alert; for you do not know when the appointed time will come.”

Our Lord will return suddenly. Only the diligent Christian will be the happy Christian in the day of the Lord. There will not be time to start “trying” to live for Him. We have to do it now. Be on guard! Be alert! We do not know when that time will come. ARE WE LISTENING?

Lord, help us to labor to know You more clearly, and more fully; to know You so as to be more like You, and to love You better, in Jesus’ Name.
