Letting our light shine is hard work. The moment we let our guard down, however, darkness creeps in.

Luke 11:33 says, “No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead, they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.” Those who “live apart from God” are described as those who sit in darkness. Jesus has made every believer to be alight that sits on a hill. He lights up our path and makes us a sparkling reflection of Himself. His desire is that others, who are still lost, will follow the ones who are following Him.

This world is a very cruel place, but Christ made us in His image to shine for Him. He specifically made us to be a light in a dark place – in our home, around family, brothers, sisters, cousins, children, aunts and uncles, friends, on our jobs, and in the marketplace.

If your light begins to grow dim, you will shine again, when Jesus Christ, the Source, brings you back to the fold. He will charge you up for Him! What a true blessing it will be, if just one person is touched by the light of Christ in you, because you were shining in a dark place. How awesome that will be and, better still, all of the glory will go to Him!
