Most people think that going to church makes them a Christian. Going to church DOES NOT make you a Christian nor does saying a prayer. You are a Christian if Jesus Christ lives in you.

2 Corinthians 5:17 says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.” This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone and a new life has begun! The new person is changed, in his (or her) character and conduct.

Jesus Christ is the Vine, the true Vine. Christians are branches of this Vine. A Christian’s life is hid with Christ. Just as we look to a vine for grapes, we, therefore, look to a Christian for the same character, personality, and life that is in Jesus Christ. Just as Christ honored His Father God, we must also honor God with our life and do good. This is called bearing fruit. Jesus Christ is very watchful about His church. He said that those who are unfruitful are taken away (John 15:5-6).

Repentance means to turn away from habitual sins. Habitual sins will destroy a person emotionally and spiritually. Those who abide not in Christ, although they may succeed for awhile in outward profession or display, yet their end will come to nothing. John 15:6 BLB says, “If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown out like the branch and is dried up, and they gather them and cast them into the fire, and it is burned.”

Are you a Christian? True or False? We are either saved or we’re not. There is no “in-between” section. Every one of us must subject ourselves to the scrutiny of our own conscience. You can only be a Christian if Christ is in you, which can be tested and proven according to the scriptures. Test yourselves to discover whether you are true believers. Put your own self under examination. If we fail the test, we have no one to blame except ourselves. If we have rejected the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we have rejected it to our own ruin.
