This entry is part 32 of 35 in the series Devotionals
A godly woman turns heads with all of her clothes on. Modesty, in the way that a godly woman dresses, is not just for attendance in church. It is for every place she goes. Oftentimes, the way a woman dresses, is cultural in nature. Immodest dressing, however, is more of an issue concerning the heart.

In 1 Timothy 2:8-9 NLT, the Apostle Paul said, “In every place of worship, I want men to pray with holy hands lifted up to God, free from anger and controversy. And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by the way they fix their hair or by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes.” If a woman’s heart is prone toward godliness, she will wear clothing that is neither provocative nor revealing in public. A godly woman, who professes that she is a Christian, would never draw attention to or show her body when she is around others. To do so, would be a poor witness for Christ. Her mindset is to glorify God.

Godly women are not concerned about the latest styles and fashions in clothing if the clothing would cause a brother in the Lord or any man to stumble or lust after them. A godly woman’s aim is to always please God. In the Book of Ruth, Boaz spoke honorably about Ruth. Everyone in town knew that Ruth was a virtuous woman by the way she carried herself (Ruth 3:11). There’s something about a godly woman that will turn heads and draw attention to her every time. Everyone will know that she is a virtuous woman just by the way she carries herself.
