This entry is part 35 of 35 in the series Devotionals
C.S. Spurgeon once said, “No Christ in your sermon, sir? Then go home, and never preach again until you have something worth preaching.”

Religion without Christ is worthless. I John 4:1 MSG says, “My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God…”

There is a philosophy in some houses of worship which is vain and deceitful. While it tickles men’s ears and makes them feel good, it hinders their faith. Colossians 2:8 says, “Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.”

If we are not careful, we can be spiritually deceived. Wrong philosophy, wrong teaching, or false doctrine can rob a believer of their Christian liberty and hold them hostage for years, if not for the rest of their lives. There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way of death. If Christ is not in the message, the message is worthless – totally worthless.
